Every Bit Helps
Year four of participating, and the count down is on for the 2012 Walk to Fight Arthritis. Please help us to make a difference in the ongoing efforts to find or develop a cure for arthritis.
Sunday June 10th I'll be walking to raise funds for research and programs - both of which have supported me and over 4 million Canadians who live with the daily pain and disability caused by arthritis.
A service I've found meaningful, that separates The Arthritis Society apart from many charity organizations, is their offering of the Arthritis Self Management Program.
I have facilitated two ASMP courses and I get to see first hand how beneficial the program is for people living with arthritis. Regardless of whether a participant is related to an arthritic person, has just been diagnosed, or has long suffered a form of arthritis, the ASMP provides practical tools and resources, but most importantly pier support.
As volunteer chair of the 2012 walk in Sudbury I am representing a community that has the second highest prevalence rate of arthritis in the province with close to 25% of our population diagnosed with one or more forms of arthritis. As the incidence of arthritis is rising, an increasing number of people are turning to the free-of-charge therapy services and volunteer-led support programs available through The Arthritis Society in Sudbury to better manage their condition.
Please donate to me or join my Team Icicle Hands.
with much gratitude,
Cindy
